Things to Do in Mahtomedi
Mahtomedi is a community built around the lake, so most of the activities center on Long Lake and the outdoors. But there is more to do here than you might expect.
Right Now: Late October 2026
The MEA weekend is behind us, and the last week of peak fall is here. PunkinMania and the Zephyr Get Together filled Mahtomedi's early October, harvest festivals wrapped across the region, and the metro's fall color is settling into late-season amber. The weeks ahead belong to Halloween: downtown White Bear Lake runs its Halloween Candy Crawl on Saturday, October 24 (10 AM-1 PM), the Scare in White Bear 5K lights up Lake Avenue that evening, and Stillwater's Trick or Treating on Main Street closes the week on Sunday, October 25. Pine Tree Apple Orchard's corn maze and pumpkin patch both close October 25, so the pumpkins and apples end on schedule this week. The farmers market wrapped its 2026 season on September 26, so this is the stretch where Halloween events take over. Check the events guide for the full calendar.
On the Water
Boating, fishing, swimming, kayaking, and paddleboarding on Long Lake are the primary warm-weather activities. The community beach is a gathering spot for families, and the boat landing is where neighbors cross paths.
Mahtomedi Area Farmers' Market
Saturdays, 8 AM–noon at Veterans Memorial Park (Triangle Park). The 2026 season ran June 27 through September 26 and has wrapped up for the year; watch for the market's return next June. Local produce, baked goods, and handmade items, with a great Saturday morning atmosphere and a chance to run into neighbors. Market info
Community Events
The 4th of July celebration is the marquee event — fireworks over the lake, neighborhood potlucks on the pier, and the kind of community gathering that makes small-town lake life special. Throughout the year, lake association meetings, fishing tournaments, and seasonal gatherings keep the community connected.
For more activities in the broader area, see our events guide.
